It’s time to stop making excuses and just do it
The number one thing on my bucket list has always been to travel. Travel to different countries, different states, different beaches, anywhere new seemed exciting. Well, there’s only one problem with this dream, it cost boatloads of money to spend time in all of those different places. Flight tickets, meals, hotels, souvenirs, everything about travel seems to require money and a lot of it.
This is why so many people put off traveling until they retire or they put it off forever. What a mistake this is. Don’t ever talk yourself out of traveling. If you have an opportunity, whether it’s through school, or you just happen across a great deal, never pass it up. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed when it comes to travel. It’s easy to think that you don’t have the time or that it will be exhausting. Don’t get discouraged.
My advice is to take advantage of every opportunity you have to travel. Stop waiting for the perfect time. There will never be a perfect time. What you have to do is jump right in and go for it. Book the flights, plan the trip whenever you can. Don’t stop and think about it, don’t hesitate, just dive right in.
Travel is like an investment. You learn, you discover, you experience other cultures, meet new people, and you walk away with great stories and memories. It’s very unlikely that you’ll return from a trip and feel regret.
Traveling opens up a whole new, exciting, world. You suddenly realize that travel doesn’t have to be as dreadful as you thought. You should also realize that travel may seem long and tiring but overall it’s amazing. The technology that we have today allows you to wake up on one continent and go to sleep on another. There isn’t a feeling that compares to that. Learning the ins and outs of bus stations, airports, and train terminals will add a layer of complexity to you. After traveling a few times, you’ll never feel intimidated by busy airports or bus stations.
On top of this newfound sense of adventure and confidence, you get to experience a truly different world. Immersing yourself in new cultures, new people, and new languages will change the way you live your own life. You’ll walk away with a new perspective and understanding of the people surrounding you. In fact, when you put yourself into someone else’s culture you begin to understand your own beliefs and traditions more.
Overall, if I could do one thing during my life, I would travel. I would travel as much as I could.
