Tips to help you find fashion to suit your curves
It can be hard to be a plus-size lady on the high street, whether it’s because certain styles are designed for smaller frames or maybe they don’t stock your size. However with two out of five UK women now identifying as a size 16 or above, it’s getting easier to find plus-size clothes that suit you.
Here are five tips to help you find fashion to suit your curves.
1. Be colourful
Basic black might be slimming but you don’t want to drape yourself in it. You should use black, or even better a navy blue, to disguise problem areas but the bits you like love about yourself should be highlighted with bright, bold colours.
2. Wear your size
Don’t be tempted to go for too tight clothing; it’ll be uncomfortable. Also, don’t be tempted to drown yourself in baggy clothes. Instead choose the right size; try it on in store if possible. It’ll make you look slimmer and it’ll feel better on.
3. Invest in shoes
Shoes can make an outfit; it can take jeans from a night on the town with killer heels to Saturday shopping with pumps. You can practically double your wardrobe with this method. Also, anyone can be a size six in shoes, so what are you waiting for?
4. Don’t scrimp on accessories
You can use accessories to highlight your favourite parts of your body. If you have an hourglass figure, try an eye-catching belt to bring attention to your trim waist; if you’re proud on your bust, buy long necklaces to bring people’s line of vision to it.
5. Get good underwear
Spanx aren’t the only thing you should have in your lingerie drawer. You need to get fitted for a good quality bra because for curvier ladies; support is everything in this department.
